Role Play

Assalamualaikum readers!

Today our group make a role play in the class. Dr Lihanna had assign each group to role play in class with different scenario written in small paper. Our group got :

Form 2
Fighting and name calling

These are our detail from the role play.

Actor and actress;
Aizat : a soft guy
Asyran, Hannan & Zana : bullies
Shazreen : soft guy's friend
Hafizah : teacher

Situation:
During class time. There is no teacher in the class.

Zana shows to Hannan and Asyran some photo of Aizat she found in the Net. They were gossiping about Aizat (the soft guys) in which he wearing girls stuff.

*for display only*

They call Aizat 'Sutun', awww, and tease him a lot until Reen (as Aizat's backup aka Bonzer) come and they had fighting with them. The class become chaos and suddenly teacher came. Teacher stopped the fighting students and asked them what happened. Later on, teacher give advises to each of them and promised this will not happened again.

in order  to explain what teacher should do, they must follow these steps:

  • emphasize the harm done to others.
in the role play, the teacher emphasize the consequences of name calling. In the Islamic view, name is a du'a. thus, when we call someone with any bad name, it is as if we are praying for them to be bad. for example, aizat is called as "sutun". he might be a real softy if he was called as "sutun" lots of time.

other than that, name calling may leave the feeling of grudge. it may be prolonged until the end of life. who knows one's heart.

lastly, it may affect one's self-esteem. Calling with bad name can hurt someone's pride and make him or her feel less than anyone.

  • encourage perspective -taking
  • restate the rule
  • command
the teacher should give a clear command of what student should and should'n do. teachers should provide a punishment if the matter happen again. for example, the teacher warns the student if the things happen again they might get punishment.
The end.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Actually our role play not going smoothly as planned but its ok. We done our best to be part of the learning process in class :D

Teaching Project #4

Assalamualaikum

Hye readers! Today is our forth day teaching in Tadika PASTI which is the second last class before we ended our teaching project.

Today we teach about How to write, pronounce and read arabic letters. At first we wrote letter Alif until Ya on the white board. Then pronounce with them together with rhythm. Then we distribute to them a printed paper of Alif until Ya and they need to colored them. After they finished colored the arabic letters, teacher will help them cut the paper and together with all student, they will glue the piece of letter on the wall. Then, they sing together the arabic letter :D

Seems easy right ? But yeah. Teaching kindergarten kids is not really easy unless you enjoyed it. :)

Just want to shared. The kids quite active after the eating time. Thus we need to do all the teaching before eating hour. pheww~

So stay tuned for our last teaching project :D
Wassalam.

Norm related assessment is better than criterion related assessment

Assalamualaikum readers!

As we promised that we gonna share the point of our debate yesterday. So here it are :D

Definition of Norm related assessment :
According to the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory site the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (1996); an assessment where student performance are compared to a larger group. Usually the larger group/ norm group is a national sample representing a wide and diverse cross-section of students.

Purposes :
According to Huitt (1996),
1) To rank each student with respect to the achievement of others in broad areas of knowledge.
2) To discriminate between high and low achievers

Other purposes:
3)To measure how well an individual does relative to other people who have taken the same test.
4)To classify students so that decisions about their opportunity for success (e.g: college entrance) can be made.

Advantages:
# can be generalize and measure a student's performance by comparing it to the performance of other students taking the same test.
#can measure how a school is performing against other school.
# Reducing time and easy to develop.
#No need to find time to develop new assessments for the students, since they can use the already built assessments.
#Avoid complexity for the teacher and staffs that are already have full workload to write new assessments in order to evaluate students’ performances and achievements.
# Does not cost a lot of money.
#School authority can just only order the teacher to assess their students and evaluate them based on the assessment provided rather than hiring new teacher or staff who is professional in specific skill which can cost a lot of money in term of paying their salary.
#Make the process of curriculum going smoothly.
Since the test are similar in every school, so it is easy for the curriculum developers to know what is working and what is not working. Hence, the developers would know the suitable curriculum for a particular level of students.

With all these points, it is crystal clear that Norm related assessment is better than criterion related assessment.

Thank you :)

Debate

Assalamualaikum readers!

This time in class activity, Dr. Lihanna had gave us a shocking task to do which is DEBATE! oh my ! There are 4 topics and each topic contain of two groups in class ; preposition and opposition team. Madam ask the representative of each group to pick randomly the topic and guess what ? Our group get the topic that we really hope we didnt get it.
The topic is

"Norm related assessment is better than criterion related assessment"

Among all the four topic that madam had shown, we really blur with this topic although some of us had learned it in Psychometric Principle class. But its ok. It is the challenge for us and we accept it. So presenting our debater for this Debate Championship! *ok just kidding* :P

Hannan (as 1st speaker)
Shazreen (as 2nd speaker)
Syazana (as 3rd speaker)

Actually we had imagine that our group will be present on Thursday, 25 April (due to the topic that we get was the third one in the list). BUT (yes there is a big BUT there), madam make a random assignment again to us on Tuesday and our group will be the SECOND DEBATE. phew~ at least not the first one. BUT (again.. with the big BUT), the first group which supposedly debate first is not willingly to go first! And our group need to do it FIRST ! Our heartbeat was like dupdapdupdap rapidly. We're not really prepare for our text actually, just some point that we had highlighted before.

And ALHAMDULILLAH, we managed to do it! Thanks teammates! Although at first we're really nerve wrecking but syukur alhamdulillah its over. YEAH ! :D

Later we will share to you our main points in our debate. Thanks for reading. :)

Wassalam.

Teaching Project #3

Assalamualaikum

Hye readers! Yesterday is our 3rd time teaching at Tadika PASTI, Gombak. We still getting nervous each time we are entering the kindergarten. However, the feeling gone when our cute students greeted us happily and being excited when they saw us coming.

This time our module is focusing on the do'a.
do'a is also known as a weapon for Muslims. Muslims make do'a to wish something from Allah.

A set of do'a had been provided to teach the students. Well, we as the teacher were hoping to teach them four do'a.

  1. before going to sleep.
  2. wake up from the sleep.
  3. before entering toilet.
  4. after getting out from toilet.
However, it is not an easy task to complete teach one do'a. At the beginning, we teach them how to recite the do'a. The students knew the do'a because but cannot read it properly and they cannot read it by themselves. especially for four years old student, they were being taught one by one to ensure the can read and memorize the do'a.

apart from only recite the do'a. they also needed to write back the do'a and coloring the pictures.

At the end of the class, we were successful teach them a do'a. when we asked the to recite, they can memorized the do'a even though some pronunciation might not be correct. It was a good feeling to see the students able to at least memorized the do'a.

Stay tuned with us for our next teaching project. :)
Wassalam.
